Firms are doing well!
We at Keylift are always glad to hear of new firms starting up. A former chief brewer of ale has opened a micro-brewery in Burnley. He is Peter Gouldsbrough. He has used his real ale expertise to set up the firm. It is called The Reedley Hallows Brewing Company and his partner is Roy Dixon. Peter used to be head of brewing at Moorhouses and has won many awards, the main one being “champion beer of Britain”. He said “the industry is as healthy as it’s ever been for real ales. It’s a craft brewery and it’s all done by hand”. Peter said they only opened in March but orders are flying in for the ale.
He said that word was spreading like wildfire and people from northern towns are getting in touch as well as pubs from all over Burnley.
“CaMRA people are like beer spotters. They will try it and pass it on. It’s like a grapevine and it works on word of mouth”.
Peter has been blending the flavours for 36% Old Laund Bitter and the lager like 3.9% Filly Close Blonde.
When Peter first started at Moorhouses he was working on little equipment like he is now. He did all his training on 5 and 10 barrel kit.
It’s good to hear that people are doing well in this current climate.
