So… how does one get Free Forklift Training?

The pandemic has affected everybody in one way or another and if you weren’t furloughed, you may have been made redundant which is equally as bad.  In fact, some people have been out of work for the last year and cannot see a way forward.  Well… have you thought about a career as forklift truck driver?  With industry in the UK now picking up, especially since Brexit, there are a huge array of jobs available for you to do including forklift truck driver.

So how do I get a role like this when I have no experience and can’t afford to put myself through a forklift course?

Steps You Need To Take

Well… It’s simple.  What you might not know is that the job centre will put you through this course if you have been unemployed for 6 months or more.  Unemployed people who would like the chance to develop their skills will be offered Free Forklift Training at a job centre site.  You see, the job centre recognises how hard it is for people to get a job nowadays without the basic training and have started to offer various occupational trades training, forklift truck driving and health and safety courses to provide you with some transferable skills for the future whilst making you more desirable for prospective employers.

There are just a few things you need to do/have to qualify.

1)       You must have been jobless for at least 6 months.

2)      You must be in touch with and known to the job centre and have been working alongside them to try get a job for the last 6 months and above.

3)      You need to have a job in mind and be able to show that there is an opportunity available that you want to work towards.  They will only put you through your course if the job exists and there is an opportunity that you can apply for.

4)      You need to persuade them that the training is necessary to get the desired role.

5)      And finally, the job centre will research the role and attempt to meet your required training needs and give you further advice if necessary, but you must work with the centre to ensure that you meet their requirements also.

So, keep in mind that even if you have been out of work for an extended period of time-there are ways and means to get back on your feet and if you don’t train via the job centre, a lot of companies will provide training onsite at no further cost to you so let’s make 2021 the best year for you yet!  For further details, contact your local job centre.
