A Skipton man lost his life due to a winch rope snapping when loading a fork lift truck onto the back of a friend’s beaver tail truck. The classic car enthusiast was fatally crushed when he took the handbrake off putting full weight on the winch rope. The forklift then started to move backwards causing the lifting platform to cantilever on the lorry’s tail. I talk about the dangers of using forklift trucks every day but even the most experienced of users can become victims so you need to have your wits about you and keep up to date with your training to avoid unnecessary accidents.
