Manchester Bombings

Manchester Unity, Peace and Love

At 22:31 on Monday 22nd May 2017, the world stood still as it witnessed one of the worst atrocities in Manchester’s history. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would’ve heard about the bomb that went off in the foyer of MEN Arena, killing 22 people and injuring many more but what many wouldn’t have expected is the solidarity, the peace, the outpouring of love from all directions and countries and the unity of the city’s people. You see Salman Abedi wanted to break the city but by carrying out the attack, he actually made us stronger!

The suicide bomber took aim at children attending an Ariana Grande concert and with it wiped out parents picking up their children, heroic aunts, social media guru’s and many many children in an unnecessary attack that shook Manchester to the core.

The events of that night showed Manchester’s true spirit.. hashtags such as #RoomForManchester starting trending, taxi driver turned off their meters and people were helping young children to nearby hotels to wait for their parents.

Since then a sea of flowers, teddies and balloons have appeared in Albert Square and various places around the city while the Oasis classic ‘Don’t look back in Anger’ has become the unofficial anthem of unity among Mancunians trying to deal with the tragedy.

Our Forklift training Manchester team was over there on bank holiday Monday, showing our support and offering help where we could.

This weekend several artists will descend upon Manchester to play a benefit concert for the victims of the tragedy including Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Take That, Justin Bieber, Mikey Cyrus and Pharell at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. All proceeds will be donated to the British Red Cross Appeal for the victims of the bombing. If anyone would like to donate in the meantime, here is the link..
