Victoria Wood

Victoria Wood has died aged 62 after a ‘short but brave’ battle with
cancer. Victoria Wood was best known for her unique brand of comedy,
creating several sketch shows including Acorn Antiques and Dinnerladies.

Wood won 5 baftas in her career and received an OBE in 1997 and a CBE in
2008. 100s of comedians have taken to Twitter acknowledging what a wonder
she was. Stating that there was never a dry eye in the house as people were
howling with laughter.

Woods follows a long list of comedians, actors and musicians that have died
from cancer in the last year including Bowie and Alan Rickman. It will be a
devastating loss to all those who knew her and the world has lost a comedy
great.
